Welcome
Boise Back Country Horsemen (BBCH) is a local chapter of Back Country Horseman of Idaho and Back Country Horseman of America. BBCH is a non-profit organization with members from Ada, Boise, and Elmore counties. Membership is open to anyone that enjoys the back country and wilderness and wants to preserve access for recreational stock use.
BBCH members meet at 7 P.M. on the second Tuesday of each month at Idaho Pizza on Fairview Avenue in Meridian. Chapter officers and state Directors are elected by the chapter members. We coordinate with Squaw Butte Chapter and Treasure Valley Chapter with educational outreach and membership recruitment.
Chapter activities include trail rides and work projects that take members from Soldier Mountain to the Owyhees to the Frank Church Wilderness. We sponsor and participate in pack clinics, dutch oven cooking classes, and wilderness training exercises such as first aid for horses and people and chainsaw and cross-cut saw use.
BBCH volunteers perform trail and facilities maintenance projects coordinating with the Boise National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management. Work projects include trail clearing, bridge building, corral rehabilitation, and cabin refurbishment. Work projects are usually complimented by a fun ride, camp out, and dutch oven dinner.
